Launch of the Hello Jazz Trend Report

What is it about jazz these days? STUFF. is all over the place, Nordmann was runner up in Humo's Rock Rally, and TaxiWars attracted the eye of the mass media. Last week, we launched our latest report: Jazz is our mother tongue, we don't know what's going to happen next.

What is jazz? This questions was posed by Hello bank!, since it sponsors this year for the first time the Hello Jazz Festival.

A very good question, we thought, so we dived into the Belgian jazz scene head first. And we  turned up with this report, titled Jazz is our mother tongue. We don't know what's going to happen next. If you do want to know what might happen next, you should read the book. But we can tell you this: the world is (again) ready for jazz. Even though the majority of people still views jazz as inaccessible and complex music, the tide is turning.

We wrote a report with seven chapters, each describing a trend within the jazz scene, and ten interviews with as many jazz musicians, managers and programmers: Guillaume Vierset, Lander Gyselinck, Pieter Koten, Lynn Cassiers, Robin Verheyen, Jean-Pierre Bissot, Bart Maris, Maaike Wuyts, Igor Géhenot and Nathan Daems

We launched the report last week in the Epaulé Jeté for a select audience. If you're sorry you missed it, you're right. It was damn fun. Luckily you can still get your hands on a report (for free, and a 6 euro shipping cost) in our webshop

Jazz Rules on Urgent.fm interviewed our colleague Barbara about it. Live on air, and on Soundcloud (the interview starts at 24')
