INSIGHTS. Berlin Trend Safari with Vlerick

What makes Berlin one of the best start-up hubs in Europe? Guided by Trendwolves, a group of hundred students of the Vlerick Business School got a glimpse into the future, exploring innovative business concepts, meeting promising entrepreneurs and spotting retail trends.

100 students. 2 days. 171.000 start-ups. And a zillion interesting retail concepts. Welcome to the Berlin Trend Safari.

Trendwolves organised a tailored trend tour through Berlin on day two of the Vlerick Business School excursion, guiding the students from one innovative retail concept to the other.

"We opted for a mix of large brands, such as the Bikini Mall and Lego in the commercial part of the city, and up-and-coming smaller concepts in the outskirts of Berlin", our trend researcher (and one of the Berlin guides) Ellen explains. "I was personally charmed by the efforts Nike put in the building of a community around their branch in the Tauentzienstraße. For example: they've equipped their upper floor as a yoga space, where people can organise and attend yoga classes for free. And every day, a group of women assembles at the store to start a run through the city. Very simple actions, but they succeed to tap into the needs of their customers and enforce thus the link between consumer and the brand."

The students shaped up their trend skills at the beginning of the day while listening to a lecture by Tom, Trendwolves trendwatcher (and one of the guides of the trend tour).

"During the tour with Trendwolves we got to know Berlin as the city of trends and innovation that it is today", Bo Wildemeersch, one of the students, concludes. “I’m looking forward to implement the fresh ideas I picked up.”

The Berlin Trend Safari was organised last minute, with only a few days to prepare. We couldn't have done it whitout the help of our Berlin trendwolves' Jessica and José-Fernando. Thank you so much, guys!

We organise trend tours regularly, as a means to gather insights and trend inspiration on spot. If you would like to find out more, simply send us an email (We're wolves, but we don't bite)
