Covering a statue with bright colours. Experiencing a warzone through an interactive installation or turning a façade into something completely different. Alexander’s craft is called projection mapping -also known as video mapping and spatial augmented reality- a projection technology used to turn all kind of objects into a display surface for video projection. "I like to experiment with non-traditional video and audio techniques. This interactive installation, for example, is programmed to respond to my voice,” Alexander explained during the expo.

At an early age, Alexander was already fascinated by computers, animation and video. Over the years, he learned to work with numerous software programs and developed his knowledge on digital and audiovisual technologies and related techniques. Two years ago, he decided to turn his hobby into a business and started his own company Limen Visual.

When asked if he would recommend the Urban Crafts experience to other makers, Alexander replied: "Absolutely! Whether you get into the finals or not, it is nice to get a professional photo and video shoot. It was the support I needed, because no one really understood what I actually did. Now I can simply show them the video and everything becomes clear. Via Urban Crafts I got noticed by a couple of companies, with several job opportunities as a result. The co-creation project with Hello bank! last summer was also a great experience. Being part of such a strong network really creates opportunities.”

Besides an honourable mention as the Urban Crafter of 2015, Alexander Stragier also wins the opportunity to travel to New York or San Francisco, where he will take part in the 2016 Maker Faire, a grand invention, creativity and innovation festival where makers from all over the world meet, exhibit their products and share their expertise.

Since 2010, over 200 young creative entrepreneurs were given the opportunity to show their expertise, their talent, their passion on urbancrafts.tv and use the tools and support that Urban Crafts offers them. Read the complete strategic case here.
