At Trendwolves, we are honored to have played a role in shaping WATF (Woodcrafts and Textile Futures) into what it is today—a platform that connects generations, celebrates creativity, and highlights the incredible opportunities within Belgium’s wood, textile, and furniture industries.
Tasked by Fedustria, we set out with a clear mission: to enhance the positive image of the Wood, Textile, and Furniture industry for all stakeholders. Our goal is to create a platform that resonates with young people while showcasing the industry’s innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
From the start, WATF has been about more than trends or events—it’s about making meaningful connections. Whether it’s connecting young designers with established companies or creating a space for industry leaders to explore new ideas, WATF is a testament to what can happen when collaboration and creativity take center stage.
The platform’s strength lies in its ability to spark curiosity and inspire action. By engaging young people through matchmaking initiatives, exhibitions, compelling stories, insightful interviews, and thought-provoking podcasts, WATF has shown them that the wood, textile, and furniture industries are vibrant spaces where creativity and sustainability thrive.
Every event and initiative under WATF serves a purpose: to inform, inspire, educate, and connect. The impact of these efforts has been humbling to witness. The Wonder Exhibit brought the creative work of young Belgian designers to over 16,000 visitors, demonstrating the power of fresh ideas and bold designs to captivate and inspire. Matchmaking programs have facilitated meaningful collaborations, such as the collaboration between Deltracon and WATF Social Designer Astrid Schouteden, whose work on repurposing surplus materials and incorporating them into her ‘Felting Conversations’ exemplifies the industry’s commitment to sustainability.
The WATF Trend Report has become an essential resource, offering an interesting exploration of 16 emerging trends, insights from 77 innovative companies, and the work of 37 promising young designers. It not only highlights the creativity and innovation within the industry but also serves as a guide for its future direction.
Youth Expo events have provided young designers with a platform to shine, fostering creativity and offering them a glimpse into the opportunities the industry has to offer. These initiatives are about more than showcasing talent—they’re about building confidence and sparking a belief in the potential of this industry.
The success of WATF is a testament to the shared commitment of everyone involved. From Fedustria’s vision to the support of their member companies and the enthusiasm of young designers, WATF reflects the collective power of collaboration.
At Trendwolves, we see ourselves as facilitators in this journey. Our role has been to bring people together, provide a platform for stories to be shared, identify trends, anticipate the future, and help turn ideas into reality. Together with Fedustria, as well as the designers, companies, and communities who have embraced WATF, we’ve created something truly meaningful that continues to inspire and connect generations.
WATF continues to evolve with a clear mission: to bridge the gap between generations and foster innovation. As we look ahead, we are committed to building on this momentum alongside Fedustria and our partners. WATF isn’t just a platform—it’s a community, and we’re grateful to contribute to its story.
